3 STRAIGHT LOSS FOR LANCERS

3 STRAIGHT LOSS FOR LANCERS

The Lancers started off the first set well against the Georgian Grizzlies in Barrie Friday night.

First year Lancer Caleb Seguin got the game underway with a couple of big plays to get the Lancers on the board right from the start.

Looking good early on, the Lancers executed a smart offence against a big Grizzly block and defended well against tough swings. Mid way through the first set, the home team ran away with the game, breaking apart the Lancers and taking a 25-16 first set victory. Head Coach Chris Jenkins says consistency was a major issue for the team. "Our passing broke down and we couldn't generate a consistent offence. Defensively, we dug a lot of balls but couldn't manage to get the offence going."

Making quick work of the second set, the Grizzlies rolled to a 25-9 win to go up 2-0.

Despite the scores, the Lancers remained aggressive and continued to work hard every point. Unforced errors and struggles on serve received ultimately cost the Lancers the game as the Grizzlies walked away with a 25-11 third set win to take the game 3-0.

After the performance against the Grizzlies, Coach Jenkins and his team look to redeem themselves Saturday when they take on the Canadore Panthers in North Bay for the second game of their weekend road trip. "Moving forward, we have to pass to our level to help control our offense, remain strong defensively and serve tough" explains Coach Jenkins.
