The Loyalist Lancers men's volleyball team hit the road for a tough doubleheader in Ottawa, facing Algonquin on Saturday and La Cité on Sunday. The weekend featured hard-fought rallies, standout individual performances, and a bounce-back win to close out the trip.
Loyalist opened the weekend against the Algonquin Wolves in a match that showcased offensive firepower on both sides. The Lancers struck first, taking the opening set 25–21, but Algonquin responded with three straight sets (25–15, 25–21, 25–21) to secure the 3–1 victory.
Liam Hill led the Lancers with 16 kills, hitting .368, while Jacob Blakeston and Jacob Diefenbach added 11 and 10 kills respectively. Despite the loss, Loyalist showed resilience, pushing the Wolves in two tight sets.
The Lancers bounced back in dominant fashion against La Cité on Sunday, earning a straight-set sweep (25–21, 25–21, 25–23) to improve to 2–2 on the season. Jacob Diefenbach was unstoppable, posting 16 kills on .483 hitting, while Liam Callaghan chipped in 8 kills and Simon Canon added 3 kills and 2 blocks. Setter Carel Poirier-de Guzman controlled the tempo with 30 assists, and the Lancers' serving game contributed 4 aces to keep La Cité on its heels
The Lancers are back on the road on Friday, November 14th to take on the Fleming Phoenix.
