Lancers Take Down Lords 3–0 in Final Regular Season Home Game
The Loyalist Lancers delivered a statement performance at home Wednesday night, sweeping the Durham Lords 3–0 and tightening the East Division playoff race with just one regular‑season match remaining.
From first whistle, the Lancers' serve pressure and first‑ball side‑out rhythm set the tone. The Lancers controlled play, defended cleanly, and never let the visitors build sustained runs, closing each set with poise to complete the straight‑sets victory.
First year right side, Jacob Diefenbach (Maleny, AUS) turned in another standout performance with an explosive, reliable offensive approach. Second year setter, Tobi Archibald (Aylesford, ND) showed off an impeccible ability to manage his team's offense with refined set selection and tempo that opened one‑on‑ones and kept Loyalist in system throughout key stretches. The Lords had no answer for third year left side, Liam Callahan (Kingston, ON) at the service line. He unleashed 8 aces, repeatedly breaking serve‑receive and building Lancer momentum throughout the game.
With the win, the Lancers improve to 9–6, sitting just outside fourth place with one match left in the regular season.
Before first serve, Loyalist recognized five graduating athletes who have helped shape the program's culture and standards:
- Simon Canon (MB, 6'3, 3rd year): A steady, dependable presence at the net whose maturity and calm competitive edge elevate everyone around him.
- Liam Hill (OH, 6'4, 3rd year): An impactful, dynamic attacker known for power, energy, and array of shots.
- Liam Perehinchuk (LS/L, 6'1, 2nd year): A Belleville product who embraced multiple roles with poise—his versatility and team‑first approach have been vital.
- David Sylvester (L, 5'9, 1st year): Earned instant respect with hustle, focus, and growth mindset. David is a positive presence both on and off the floor.
- Kian Titus (OH, 6'1, 2nd year): Athletic, enthusiastic, and increasingly confident, Kian is an energizing contributor who continues to grow.
Loyalist closes the regular season on the road on Saturday, February 7th at Centennial College with playoffs in their sights. A strong finish could nudge the Lancers into fourth place and get home court advantage for their crossover playoff game.
Congratulations to all graduating athletes and thank you for your contributions to the Lancers!
Once A Lancer, Always A Lancer.
