Lancers Welcome Rylan Hamel Chan to Men’s Volleyball Program
The Loyalist College Lancers men's volleyball team has added another exciting piece to its roster with the commitment of Rylan Hamel Chan for the upcoming season.
Hamel Chan, a 5'9" libero/outside hitter from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, joins the Lancers following his time at Walter Murray Collegiate, where he competed at a high level both with his school team and through an extensive club volleyball career.
Since beginning the sport in 2021, Hamel Chan has steadily progressed through the club ranks, competing with JCVC Black (U14), Phoenix Volleyball Club (U16 and U18), CVVC (U16), and most recently HVC Elite (U18). His experience across multiple programs has helped him develop into a versatile and resilient player capable of contributing in multiple roles.
In his most recent season, Hamel Chan helped lead Walter Murray to a second-place finish at the city championships, before continuing his campaign with HVC Elite, where the team placed fourth at Provincials and 45th out of more than 120 teams at Nationals. He has consistently competed at the Division One club level and gained valuable exposure on the national stage.
One of the defining highlights of his playing career has been his ability to rise to the occasion against taller opponents, recording key blocks that showcase his timing, determination, and competitive edge.
Hamel Chan will be enrolled in the Business Sales and Marketing program at Loyalist. His decision to join the Lancers was influenced by the program's recent success, including a top-five finish last season, along with the college's strong academic offerings and welcoming coaching staff.
Off the court, he enjoys fishing, cooking, and spending time gaming with friends, bringing a balanced and energetic personality to the Lancers community.
With his work ethic, versatility, and competitive mindset, Hamel Chan adds depth to the Lancers lineup as the team continues to build for the upcoming season. The program looks forward to his contributions as he proudly represents the Lancers.
