Lancers Remain Perfect After Road Win Over St. Lawrence Surge
The Loyalist Lancers women's basketball team continued their historic, undefeated season on Wednesday night, earning a hard‑fought road victory over the St. Lawrence Surge to remain undefeated as the regular season heads into its final stretch.
From the opening quarter, Loyalist imposed their pace and defensive intensity, pressuring the Surge into tough looks while executing with composure on the offensive end. The Lancers' ability to control tempo—pushing the floor in transition while staying patient in the half‑court—allowed them to build early momentum and maintain it throughout the game.
Loyalist's inside presence and clean ball movement created high‑percentage opportunities, while the team's defensive rotations stifled St. Lawrence's attempts to generate sustained scoring runs. The Surge challenged the Lancers with physical play and grit, but Loyalist's depth, discipline, and poise once again proved to be the difference.
As the game progressed, the Lancers' experience showed. Timely rebounds, strong on‑ball pressure, and confident late‑shot‑clock execution kept Loyalist firmly in control. With contributions coming from across the lineup, the Lancers closed out the matchup with the same maturity and toughness that has defined their season.
Second year Lancer, Nina Anderson (New Liskeard, ON) turned in a career high performance, going 6-9 from the foul line and racking up a stellar 18 points, 14 rebound performance for her first double double.
With only a handful of regular‑season games remaining, Loyalist looks to preserve their perfect record while honing the details that will matter most come playoff time. The Lancers have shown they can win fast, win physical, and win on the road—traits that will serve them well as competition intensifies.
The Lancers look to continue their historic run in their final regular season home game on Saturday February 7th at 1 PM when they take on the Durham Lords.
