Lancers Add Two More Recruits to Women’s Basketball Roster
The Loyalist Lancers women's basketball program is proud to introduce two more promising student-athletes to its 2026 recruiting class, welcoming Lila DiPietro and Ella Barangan to the squad.
The duo joins Isabelle Guenette and Keira Lusk, who both committed to the Lancers earlier this year, as the program continues to build on an incredibly successful 2025-2026 season.
DiPietro joins the Lancers following a strong basketball career that includes time with the Pelham Panthers G-Elite program, Pelham OBA, and Notre Dame College School. A 5'9" guard, she brings versatility and a well-balanced skill set to the Lancers lineup.
Her experience competing at the G-Elite level has helped shape her ability to impact multiple areas of the game, and one of her standout achievements includes an OFSAA appearance in Grade 12, competing against some of the top high school talent in the province.
Off the court, DiPietro will be enrolled in the Pre-Health Sciences program. Her decision to choose Loyalist was influenced by its strong academic fit and the appeal of a close-knit, small-town environment. Away from basketball, she enjoys singing and spending time in nature.
Head Coach Caleb Hugh looks foward to DiPietro's all-around game as a key addition to the roster. "Lila can impact the game in a variety of ways with her ability to shoot, defend, and rebound, making her a strong two-way player."
Joining DiPietro is Ella Barangan, a 5'3" guard from Milton, Ontario, who brings experience from both PDM G-Elite and Milton Stags OBA, along with her high school career at Bishop Reding Secondary School.
Barangan has competed at both the G-Elite and AAU levels, gaining valuable experience in high-performance environments. Among her top basketball highlights is earning a bronze medal at OBL-X, a result that reflected significant team growth and exceeded expectations over the course of the season.
She will enter the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Loyalist, drawn by the college's strong academic reputation, small class sizes, and access to clinical learning resources.
Beyond basketball, Barangan is passionate about playing piano, spending time with family, and volunteering at the hospital, reflecting her commitment to both personal and community development.
Coach Hugh emphasized her impact on the court, particularly in key game situations. "Coming from a strong PDM program, Ella impacts winning thanks to her high basketball IQ, defense, and playmaking skills."
With the addition of DiPietro and Barangan, the Lancers continue to strengthen their roster with a mix of skill, experience, and character. As the program builds toward the upcoming season, all four recruits—including Guenette and Lusk—represent an exciting future for Loyalist women's basketball.
