Lancers Show Grit in Competitive 3-1 Loss to the Sing
The Loyalist Lancers women's volleyball team put up a strong fight against the East Division's first place, Seneca Sting on Saturday afternoon. After a commanding lead at the beginning of the game, the Lancers took the opening set but ultimately fell 3-1 (26-24, 17-25, 13-25, 21-25).
First year Lancer, Sydney Crawford led the offensive charge with 12 kills and 4 service aces, finishing with a team-high 16 points. Her clutch plays in the first set helped the Lancers secure a thrilling 26-24 win. Veteran teammate Charlie Cudmore matched Crawford with 12 kills of their own, hitting an efficient .276 while also contributing 3 blocks to disrupt Seneca's attack. The Lancer middle duo of Amber Verbruggen and Chloe Pallister were stellar at the net, consistently slowing down the Sting's attack with strong blocks and agressive attacks.
Despite the loss, the Lancers showed tremendous effort against a tough Sting squad.
The Lancers will look to get back in the win column when they hit the road for the Eastern road trip, seeking a rematch against the Algonquin Wolves and La Cite Coyotes on November 22nd & 23rd,
