Lancers XC Signs Andrew Francioni for 2026–2027
The Loyalist Lancers are proud to announce that Andrew Francioni has officially committed to the Lancers Cross Country team for the 2026–2027 season.
Francioni arrives from Collingwood Collegiate Institute, where he developed into a committed and steadily improving runner. Competing at the OFSAA level in 2022 and 2023, Andrew gained valuable provincial experience early in his high school career. His progression included strong showings in regional GBSSA competition, contributing to multiple team gold medals and marking his own standout performance with a top 15 finish.
Standing at 5'5", Andrew brings determination, discipline, and a clear passion for the sport. He credits his siblings for inspiring him to try cross country. Though he admits he "wasn't as good as them at first," he committed to consistent training, grew stronger each season, and discovered both confidence and community through running.
As the program looks ahead, the coaching staff is already excited about the qualities Andrew will bring to the team. Head Coach Kevin Beatty looks forward to working with Andrew in the coming seasons. "We are excited to bring Andrew into our program. He brings the right attitude to Lancer athletics. He is enthusiastic about continuing in the sport and looking for opportunities to improve to the next level."
The experience gained at his high school will be instrumental in Andrew's transition to the OCAA.
"Collingwood Collegiate is a strong school where team success is valued," Coach Kevin continues. "Andrew has demonstrated an ability to contribute and be a team player, while continuing to improve his personal performance, which is the type of athlete who will do well at the OCAA level."
Beyond the trails, Andrew has built an impressive résumé through Air Cadets, where he serves as a Flight Sergeant with Squadron 714 in Wasaga Beach. His leadership and fitness achievements have been recognized with excellence badges from both CFB Borden and his home squadron. He has further strengthened his athletic foundation through certifications in Intro to Fitness and Intro to Sport (2024), along with the Fitness & Sport Instructor certification (2025).
Andrew will be starting in Loyalist's Fitness and Health Promotion program in the fall. When asked why he chose Loyalist, he emphasized the opportunity to grow with the Lancers program and continue developing as a competitive runner.
Head Coach Kevin Beatty and the entire Lancers community are excited to welcome Andrew to the team. His work ethic, character, and commitment to improvement make him an outstanding fit for the program.
Welcome to the Lancers, Andrew!
